The David Beater Conversion kit allows you to replace the hanging beater on the original David loom with the gliding beater. The gliding beater rides forward and back on a pair of metal rods that mount on the sides of the loom, between the castle and the upright beneath the breast beam. The gliding beater moves in a straight line, rather than the arc of the swinging beater, ensuring that the reed strikes the fell line at the same angle every time for a more uniform beat.
