BEGINNING WEAVING CLASSES Our beginning weaving classes are designed for students who are brand new to weaving. These classes will provide you with the knowledge on how to identify the parts of a loom, dress a loom, and weave a novice project. INTRODUCTION TO INKLE WEAVING Call it tape or ribbon—it can all be done on the inkle loom. In this introductory class you will learn the parts of the inkle loom, how to make heddles, and how to choose colors for designs. You will need to bring your own inkle loom, shuttles, and 2 or more colors of 8/4 cotton yarn. By Audrey Lintner. W09 July 1 (Sat.), 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. 1 day $75.00 LEARN MORE AND ENROLL NOW! BEGINNING RIGID HEDDLE WEAVING If you like color and texture, then weave with the simple rigid heddle loom. You will learn a fast way to thread the loom and then weave a scarf. We will provide a loom to use during class, but if you want to bring your own, be sure it is complete, assembled, and in good working condition with an 8- or 7.5-dent heddle. Materials not included. INTRODUCTION TO TAPESTRY WEAVING Tapestry weaving can be done on a frame, rigid heddle, or harness loom. We will be working on rigid heddle looms and floor looms to create a small tapestry. Using slit and diagonal techniques, we will weave a design based on a simple illustration. Bring your own pre-threaded loom or sign up to rent one of ours. The rental fee includes pre-threading. You will need to buy 2-3 colors of Lamb’s Pride Worsted for your weft. By Bea Bonanno. W22 July 12-13 (Weds.-Thurs), 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. 2 days $140.00 LEARN MORE AND ENROLL NOW! Warp, weft, sett, epi, ppi, draft, tie-up and more are weaving terms you will learn. You will measure your warp, thread the loom, learn to read threading drafts, and weave a sampler of several different patterns. You don’t need your own loom, students use our classroom looms and equipment. Your project yarn can be purchased on the first day. By Susan Bateman. BACK TO BASICS—Warping Review Do you feel like you need a quick refresher course on how to dress your loom? If you have not done much weaving since you took the Beginning Harness Weaving class and want to review your skills, this is your chance to wind a warp, thread the loom front-to-back, beam on, and tension. When you have completed this process, you will re-tie your porrey cross and put the warp back into a chain to take home and repeat the process on your own loom. Repeat to reinforce! You will choose either a wool or cotton worsted weight yarn in 2-3 colors. By Katie Werner. W10 Aug. 27 (Sun.), 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. 1 day $70.00 LEARN MORE AND ENROLL NOW! WARPING BOARD REVIEW—Or how I learned to count by 2s When we speak to new weavers, often their biggest concern as a new weaver is uncertainty with the warping board. We will give you good guidance and pointers to make you feel more confident at the warping board. Bring yarn for a scarf project to practice winding a warp. You will take your warp chain home to put on your loom at home. By Katie Werner. W19—July 2 (Sun.) 1:00-3:30 p.m. 1 day $30.00 LEARN MORE AND ENROLL NOW!
