INTERMEDIATE RIGID HEDDLE WEAVING

NOTE: The weaving class listed below is designed for those who have threaded on a rigid heddle loom, can follow a draft and weave independently.

 

DOUBLE WEAVE ON THE RIGID HEDDLE LOOM

Don’t feel constrained by the size of your rigid heddle loom.  In this class you will learn to use two heddles to create double the width fabric on your rigid heddle loom.  Handy for creating throws and shawls!  You can bring any size rigid heddle loom to class, but it must be equipped for 2-heddle weaving.  You will use two 7.5-or 8-dent heddles.  Materials not included.  By Bea Bonanno.

CLASP WARP WEAVING

Create striking color shifts in your warp by interlocking yarns while threading your rigid heddle loom.  You will learn how to plan a project with this technique and design a unique pattern to weave a scarf, shawl, or runner in class.  You will need to bring your own rigid heddle loom that has a minimum width of 10” to class.  You will also need an 8-dent heddle.  Materials not included.  By Bea Bonanno.

8-HARNESS PICK UP ON THE RIGID HEDDLE LOOM

Learn how to use pick up techniques on your rigid heddle loom to make more complicated weave structures like color-and-weave pinwheel.  You will use 2 highly contrasting colors of 3/2 Perle cotton, a mercerized cotton to make a set of towels.  You will need to bring your own rigid heddle loom that is at least 14” wide and a 12-dent heddle.

TAPESTRY ON RIGID HEDDLE OR HARNESS LOOM

NOTE: The weaving class listed below is designed for those who have woven tapestry techniques before or have taken our Introduction to Tapestry Weaving class.

 

COLOR GRADIENT & BLENDING TECHNIQUES FOR TAPESTRY WEAVING

Creating color gradients and blending colors create depth and other painterly effects in a tapestry.  In this class, you will work with 6-8 colors of EPiC wool yarn and learn how to create gradient shifts and apply various blending techniques on your tapestry.  Bring your own pre-threaded loom or sign up to rent one of ours.  By Bea Bonanno.

·         All class enrollments must include payment.

·         Students must be 16 years or older to sign up for classes unless they are specifically kids classes.

·         Cancellations must be made 3 days prior to class starting to receive a refund unless we are threading a loom for you, the last day to cancel will be stated otherwise.

·         Yarn Barn will cancel a class 3 days prior to class start if the enrollment is below the minimum number; refunds will be issued.

·         Unless noted, materials are not included in the class fee; we have a recommended list of supplies for each class.

·         Students will receive a discount off most yarns during the class period.
