Towels make great weaving projects: they are useful to have in the kitchen, handy to keep on hand for last-minute gifts, and they are a great way to try out a new structure or technique on a small scale. In this project, we are using light and dark variations of the same color. While the structure is plain weave, the effect of alternating light and dark colors in both the warp and the weft creates a pattern. It is a recipe for a pair of spiffy towels woven in 22/2 Cottolin sett at 20 epi. Cottolin has slightly more crispness and absorbency than 100% cotton but more stretch than 100% linen, so it is a fun yarn to work with.
