If you have never done brioche knitting before, please take the Introduction to Brioche class. This is not an introductory brioche knitting class and you must have basic brioche knitting experience in order to take this class.

BRIOCHE BEYOND THE BASICS: Scarf

July 17 Thursday 6-8 p.m. 3 weeks

Once you have learned the basics in brioche knitting, it's time to work on your first project. This brioche scarf pattern uses 2 colors of worsted weight yarn to get creative with color. You will review how to make brioche increases and decreases, follow a pattern, and learn how to correct mistakes. By Carla Tilghman.

Supplies to bring, all of which are available at the Yarn Barn:

  • Download and print the Brioche Basix Scarf pattern (free)
  • Color A needs approximately 269 yards
  • Color B needs approximately 260 yards. We recommend a worsted weight yarn like Malabrigo Rios or Life's a Stitch Bare Base Worsted.
  • Circular US 8 needles and US 10 needles for the Cast on and Bind Off
  • Split ring stitch markers
  • Cable needle
  • Stitch holder
  • Crochet hook and waste yarn for provisional cast on

    • PARKING: The parking garage is located at 927 New Hampshire Street. Top level parking is free. Level 2 parking is $2.00 to park 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Street level and basement level parking is limited to 2 hours. Pay stations are located at each stairwell on the street level. Sunday parking is free downtown.
