By Tom Knisely. So often, huck lace is woven in a single color to emphasize the floats through light and shadow. It's classic, but it leaves out a whole realm of design possibilities using color. Tom Knisely explores the effects that color can have when combined with huck lace. The book is divided into sections of:
Within each section, examples are given of that type of colorwork used with warp-float huck, weft-float huck, lacey huck squares, and huck with both warp and weft floats. Each of the 576 examples has a color photo and large color draft. All of the samples are woven using the same yarn and sett: 5/2 perle cotton at 16 epi. All use the same 4-harness draft. By keeping these elements constant, Tom makes it easier to focus on the effect of color change.
- complementary colors
- triadic colors
The final section of the book provides five projects to get you started: two scarves, towels, a baby blanket, and mug rugs.
