Gilda plays with scale in the lace motifs. Three different sizes of zig zag patterns are used to create movement and energy. They contrast with a more static block of Mrs. Hunter's lace, a slipped stitch lace pattern. The zig zags are created on a ground fabric of garter stitch for a stretchy, supple fabric. The four different lace patterns are worked from charts. The shawl measures 20.75" x 70.5". It can be hand washed and dried flat. Brooklyn Tweed has assigned this Veronik Avery design a skill level rating of 3 out of 5 (intermediate).
Gilda uses Brooklyn Tweed's Vale, a lace weight wool. Vale has a springy feel and a smooth surface that shows off lace stitches. In this design, Vale is knit at 5.75 stitches per inch after blocking in the small Zig Zag pattern.
