By Robyn Spady, Nancy A. Tracy, and Marjorie Fiddler. This book captures the breadth and depth of William Bateman's fascination with weave structures. It is divided into sections, each based on a structure (twill, single two-tie, boulevard weave, etc), and then shows Dr. Bateman's exploration of that structure. Each variation is represented with a draft and color photo of the original fabric. Most are 8 harness designs and because they were conceived on a table loom, they are not limited to 10 treadles. A table loom or dobby loom is needed for some of the designs but most of them can be woven using 10 or fewer treadles. The swatches are inspirational and can be used as the starting point for a great variety of projects.
