The general rule of thumb for summer and winter is that the pattern weft is twice the thickness of the tabby weft. We decided to make them the same thickness, which lets the tabby colors share the stage with their pattern weft compatriot. Using 8/2 Cottolin sett at 20 epi gives you a fabric that is lightweight and absorbent, just what you want in a towel. Cottolin combines the absorbencey of linen with some stretch from the cotton, so it is easier to get even tension than with 100% linen. You will be using two shuttles, alternating picks of two different colors throughout. The pattern weft is the same on all blocks but the tabby weft changes from block to block. The kit makes two hemmed towels with finished dimensions of 16.25" x 25.5" and 16.25" x 24". They can be machine washed and dried.
