Superwash Merino retains the softness of the original fiber but can be machine washed without shrinking or felting. It is extremely fine, with a distinct crimp. The smaller the diameter, the softer the yarn, and this Merino is a superfine 19 microns. That makes it perfect for clothing worn next to the skin, even for babies. The staple length is 2 1/2 - 4 inches.
This fiber has been treated to make it machine washable, which makes it an excellent choice for spinning sock yarn. It will not work for wet felting or needle felting. For a white Merino that will shrink, full, or felt, see the Merino sliver.
