Skylark has an understated elegance that we love. The majority is stockinette stitch but the subtle cable in the ribbing and the twisted rib front edgings add interest. The back, two fronts, and set-in sleeves are knit flat and then joined. The front edging extends above the shoulders and is sewn together to form the back of the neck. Charts are used to work the cable pattern. The finished chest measurements are 37 (41, 45.25, 48.5, 52.75)" with lengths of 19.75 (20.5, 21.25, 22, 22.75)". The sweater can be hand washed and dried flat. Rowan gives this Martin Storey design a difficulty rating of 2 out of 4 (straightforward knitting and various shaping techniques.)
Moordale is one of Rowan's yarns made entirely of British-raised fiber. It combines 70% wool and 30% alpaca for a yarn that is lightweight and warm. It shows off textured stitches, like the cables in Skylark, beautifully. Moordale is a sport weight yarn that knits at 5.75 stitches per inch in stockinette for this project.
