Detailed Description

There is something so wonderful about silk--the sheen, the drape, and the way that it takes dye can't be beat! Our scarf uses two colors of Malabrigo's hand-dyed silk yarn called Mora. The warp is one color, sett at 20 epi and threaded in a point twill. The weft is a different color of Mora, treadled to create elongated zig-zags. We wove our scarf on a table loom because the minimal loom waste on a table loom meant that we could get the longest scarf out of two skeins of each color. If you would like to make this scarf on a floor loom, order an additional skein of your warp color and increase the warp length to 3 yards. Woven on a table loom, the kit makes one scarf measuring approximately 7" x 67".

To weave the scarf on a table loom, you will need:

  • Silkpaca: 2 skeins each of two colors
  • table loom with 8.1" weaving width
  • 4 harnesses
  • 10-dent reed
  • 160 heddles
  • boat shuttle and bobbin

We wove our scarf using Mora color 862 Piedras for the warp and 195 Black for the weft.
