Subtle, shimmering color. It is what Kaffe Fassett is known for and he puts it on full display in Shaded Diamonds. Sixteen colors of Felted Tweed are worked in diamonds that suggest blended watercolors or stained glass. This won't be the fastest sweater you've ever made but it will be the one that people compliment and the one that you wear for years. Despite the complexity of the colorwork, the shaping is straightforward. The back, front, and set-in sleeves are knit flat and then joined at the shoulder. The colorwork is done following a chart. Stitches are picked up and worked flat in rib for the neckband, then the shoulder and neck are seamed. Finished chest measurements are 38.5 (42.25, 46.25, 50.25, 54.25)" with finished lengths of 26.5 (27.5, 28.5, 29, 29.75)".
Shaded Diamonds is knit using a Rowan yarn that has been a favorite for years: Felted Tweed. It is a blend of 50% Merino wool, 25% alpaca, and 25% viscose spun into a lofty yarn with a slight halo to the finished fabric. It has a soft hand and beautiful tweeded colors. Best of all, it can be machine washed and dried flat. It is a DK weight yarn that is knit at 6 stitches per inch in stockinette in this project.
The kit includes the yarn and the complete pattern book Kaffe Fassett's Winter Vintage. For this project you will also need:
