Rockcress is a classic design, with a fitted shape, crew neck, and set-in sleeves but its use of special knitting techniques (ribbed cabled cast on, sloped bind off, tubular bind off, and kitchener stitch) give a refined finish. The back, front, and sleeves are worked flat and then joined. Rockcress was designed to be fitted, worn with 2" of ease. The finished chest measurements are 30.75 (36.75, 39.75, 42.75, 48.75, 51.75)" with lengths of 21.75 (22, 22.25, 22.5, 22.75, 23.25)". The sweater can be hand washed and dried flat. Brooklyn tweed rates this Norah Gaughan design as skill level 3 of 5 (intermediate).
Rockcress was designed using Brooklyn Tweed's Shelter, a worsted-weight wool and the first yarn designed by Brooklyn Tweed. It is a a woolen-spun yarn so it is lofty, for a lightweight but warm sweater. Wet blocking gives it a soft hand and slight fuzzy halo. Shelter is a worsted weight yarn and is knit at 6 stitches per inch in pattern stitch in Rockcress.
