Railfence has a simple shape but the twisted-stitch detail on the front and back yoke elevate this to a special piece. The wide neck is flattering for everyone and the edging at the hem and cuffs is a nice alternative to ribbing. The body and sleeves are worked in the round separately from the bottom up. At the armholes, they are joined and the work continues upward to the neck in one piece. The purl and twisted stitch patterning is worked following a chart. The finished chest measurements are 34 (38.25, 42.25, 46, 50, 54.25, 58.25, 62)". Lengths at the back are 20.75 (21.25, 22.25, 23, 23.75, 24.25, 25.25, 25.50)". Railfence can be hand washed and dried flat. Brooklyn Tweed has assigned this Norah Gaughan design a skill level rating of 3 out of 5 (intermediate).
Brooklyn Tweed created Peerie for designs that benefit from good drape and sharp stitch definition. Peerie is a worsted-spun 4-ply yarn so it is smooth and strong. It has a subtle sheen that enhances the 3-dimensionality of textured stitches by creating areas of light and shadow. Peerie is made from US-sourced Merino wool and is spun and dyed in the US. It is a fingering weight yarn and is knit here at 6.75 stitches per inch in stockinette, after blocking.
