A wrap like this makes you long for cold weather. It is big enough to wear around your shoulders but lightweight enough that you can settle it around your neck without disappearing into it. Pucallpa is knit in an all-over lace pattern. The 12-row repeat is worked from written instructions. The final touch is the picot cast-off. Finished measurements are approximately 23.5" x 78.5". Designed by Lisa Richardson and rated by Rowan as requiring simple techniques.
Pucallpa is knit using Rowan's Alpaca Classic. This is an unusual yarn, made by stuffing a fine cotton mesh tube with alpaca fibers. The result is a fluffy, fuzzy yarn with a lot of warmth, perfect for a lightweight shawl. It is a sport weight yarn and is knit in this project at 6 stitches per inch in pattern.
The kit includes the pattern (in full issue of Rowan Magazine 64) and yarn for the shawl. For this project you will also need:
- single point needles in US size 5 OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
- tapestry needle
