If you've had a hankering to try stranded knitting, here is a good first-time project. The size is manageable and the colorwork is straightforward. The hat is knit from the bottom up, beginning with 1x1 ribbing. The colorwork is done following a large, clear chart. The topic of color dominance, which may be new to even some experienced knitters, is covered and instructions are given for getting the best results with your stranded knitting. The finished hat measures 21.75" in circumference and 8.25" high. It can be hand washed and dried flat. Brooklyn Tweed has assigned this Jared Flood design a skill level rating of 2 out of 5 (adventurous beginner).
Otte is knit in Arbor, Brooklyn Tweed's DK weight 3-ply yarn spun from American Targhee wool. Arbor is worsted-spun for clearly defined colorwork and a springy feel. For Otte, it is knit at 5.5 stitches per inch in pattern after blocking. Like all Brooklyn Tweed yarns, Arbor is developed, sourced, processed, spun, and dyed entirely in the US.
The kit includes the pattern and yarn. For this project you will also need:
- 16" circular needle in US size 7 (OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE)
- double point needles in US size 7<.li>
- 16" circular needle in US size 4

Otte is shown in Arbor colors 461 Dorado, 459 Lovat, 497 Thaw, and 426 Butte. If you would like your kit to be in this combination, simply order above.
