Detailed Description

We're such big fans of the Miles Shirt-Jacket, we've even taught it as a class here at our store! We love its slouchy, relaxed style that turns every day into a lazy Sunday afternoon. The majority of the sweater is easy stockinette stitch, worked from the top down in one piece. German short rows shape the shirttail hem. Miles' designer, Hailey Smedley, known as Ozetta on Ravelry, provides a list of video tutorials to help you with techniques that you might not be familiar with.

The Miles Shirt-Jacket was designed for Manchelopis from WoolDreamers. This is an unspun wool yarn made in Spain. The yarn is so light and airy, the sweater is warm with very little weight. It is a unique and wonderful feel but the yarn does take some special handling because of its loose spin. In the Miles Shirt-Jacket, the yarn is held double stranded, as it comes off the cake, and knit at a gauge of 3.75 stitches per inch. The sweater can be hand washed and dried flat.

This is a roomy cardigan! The designer recommends wearing it with 10-11" of ease. Finished chest measurements for this unisex sweater are 43 (45.5, 48, 52, 56, 60.5, 64.5, 67, 71)" with lengths of 26.5 (27, 28, 28.5, 29.5, 31, 32, 33, 33)".

The kit includes the pattern purchased for you through Ravelry and the yarn. You will also need:

  • 32" or longer circular needles in US size 10 (OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE)
  • If you adjusted this needle size to get gauge, adjust the following needle sizes as well:
  • 16" circular needles in US size 10
  • 16" circular needles in US size 8
  • 6 removable stitch markers
  • four 1" buttoms
  • row counter
  • small amount of plied yarn for sewing pockets on
  • thread for attaching buttons
  • tapestry needle
