Here at the Yarn Barn, we see a lot of good designs, so it takes a lot to impress us. But this stunning holiday blanket by Martin Storey did, and then some! It is made up of 35 squares knit of 6 different images inspired by traditional Shetland and Nordic motifs. The squares are knit separately and then sewn together and then a border is knit around the perimeter. The yarn is one of our favorites--Rowan Felted Tweed. This is a DK weight yarn that blends the goodness of Merino wool, alpaca, and viscose. And it is machine washable! The finished blanket measures approximately 31" x 43"--perfect for keeping your lap warm or for throwing across the sofa back for a cheery holiday touch.

• Straight or circular needles in US size 5 (OR SIZE REQUIRED TO GET THE GAUGE)
• 40" or longer circular needle in US size 3
• tapestry needle

Love the design but want to put together your own colorway? You can do that! Simply go to the page for Felted Tweed and order the yarn there. You'll need 5 skeins of your main color, 2 skeins for your border as well as one motif, and 1 skein each of five other motif colors.
