With Maki, the style is in the details. While the majority of the knitting is stockinette, the double garter stitch back yoke, rolled collar, and vents at the sides and cuffs give it a reserved elegance. The knitting on the front and back begins flat, forming the side vents, but then continues in the round up to the armholes. The set-in sleeves are made from the bottom up the same way, with the cap knit flat. After the pieces are joined, stitches are picked up and knit in the round for the rolled collar. Maki has an A-line shape and was designed to be worn loosely, with 4-6" of ease. Finished chest measurements are 35.5 (39.25, 43, 46.75, 50.75, 54.5)" with finished lengths of 23 (24, 25.25, 26.25, 26.75, 27.75)". The sweater can be hand washed and dried flat. Brooklyn Tweed has assigned this Veronik Avery design a skill level rating of 4 out of 5 (adventurous intermediate).
Maki is knit using Arbor, one of Brooklyn Tweed's yarns made entirely in the US from 100% Targhee wool. It is a DK weight yarn that is made using three worsted-spun plies that are firmly twisted together, creating a smooth yarn with excellent stitch definition.
