What is new is that you now have an option on the tension system: the original Irish tension, where the drive band turns the bobbin and the bobbin turns the flyer, or Scotch tension, where the drive band turns the flyer and the flyer turns the bobbin. Which should you pick? While both are good for general spinning, the Scotch tension wheel makes finer spinning easier since you have finer control over the tension.

Like all Louet wheels, the single-treadle S-10 has maintenance free ball bearings in the main hub and at the footman connection, a poly drive belt and simple leather brake--what can go wrong? The built-in lazy kate and simplicity of the wheel make it great for workshops. Especially suited to spinning medium and heavier yarns, the S-10 has higher speed options to make spinning finer yarns easier as well.. The S-10 is made of lacquered beech with birch plywood.
