Overshot is a traditional choice for coverlets but it is versatile enough to be used at a very different scale. Here, we've taken a design called Mohawk Valley Roses and woven it using very fine yarns to make an elegant, supple scarf. The warp is 16/2 Bamboo sett at 30 epi. This same yarn is the tabby weft and the pattern weft is 8/2 Bamboo. The weaving requires two shuttles (one for each weft) and is not speedy at 60 picks per inch, but it is a great way to practice precision weaving. The design is reversible, with the darker color dominant on one side and the lighter one on the other.
- makes 1 scarf, 7.25" x 67"
- 4-harness overshot
- 9" weaving width sett at 30 epi
- designed for 16/2 and 8/2 Bamboo (rayon from bamboo)
- challenge--fine, somewhat delicate warp threads
