The texture on the yoke of this sweater is truly unique--it looks like the folded paper art called kirigami! The majority of the sweater is stockinette, but subtle shaping at the waist and the flattering neckline give this sweater a lovely shape. The body and sleeves are worked in the round from the bottom up until they are joined at the armholes. The yoke is worked using short rows for shaping and following a chart for the textured stitch that creates the triangular peaks and valleys. Kirigami was designed to be worn with 1-3" of ease. Finished chest measurements are 33.5 (37.5, 41.75, 46, 50, 54.25)" with finished lengths of 21.75 (22, 23.5, 24, 25.5, 25.75)". The sweater can be hand washed and dried flat. Brooklyn Tweed has assigned this Gudrun Johnston design a skill level rating of 3 out of 5 (intermediate).
Kirigami uses Arbor, by Brooklyn Tweed. This is a DK weight yarn that is made using three worsted-spun plies of US-raised Targhee wool that arefirmly twisted together, creating a smooth yarn with excellent stitch definition. It is perfect for showing off the crisp folds of this design!
