This elegant cocoon is fashioned from a single rectangle of fabric with no cutting. The fabric is Kenzie, a blend of Merino wool, nylon, angora, alpaca, and silk that is lofty, warm, and has a nice drape. The warp is striped in five colors sett at 10 epi. The weft is a single color of Kenzie, woven at 12 ppi in a twill variation with a very easy treadling combination. Once the fabric is woven, it only takes two top-stitched seams to have the cocoon ready to wear. It can be done by hand but is more easily done by machine. The finished garment measures approximately 54" from cuff to cuff and is approximately 20" long. It can be hand washed and air dried.
You will need:
- Kenzie: 7 skeins main color and 2 skeins each of 4 accent colors
- 26" weaving width
- 4 harnesses
- 10-dent reed
- 257 heddles
- 1 boat shuttle and bobbins
Our cocoon uses Kenzie 1003 Chocolate for the main color with 1007 Kiwi, 1021 Light Brown, 1026 Olive, and 1004 Beetroot.
