Designed by Janice Weinstein, this shawl is knit from the top down using an easy combination of garter stitch and yarn overs. This creates a series of eyelets at the neck and the lower edge. It is knit loosely for a stretchy fabric that is almost translucent. An optional tie can be crocheted as a closure. The scarf is knit in Melody, a fingering weight superwash wool. Melody has a long color repeat so the color changes gradually as you work downward. The finished dimensions are 14" x 68". The shawl can be machine washed in a lingerie bag and blocked flat.
For this project you will also need:
- 24" or longer circular needle in US size 10 (OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE)
- optional crochet hook E for tie closure
- tapestry needle
