February 17 (Sat.), 1-3 p.m. 1 day 

Fair Isle knitting, also know as stranded knitting, allows you to work 2 colors within a row.  This technique is often accompanied by 2-handed knitting, so you'll also learn how to knit Continental style and English style at the same time. By Mary Mortensen.

Supplies to bring, all of which are available at the Yarn Barn:

  • 50 yards each of 2 different colors in a worsted weight yarn. Wool is traditionally used in Fair Isle knitting.  Please bring solid shades only.
  • 16" circular US 7 or 8
  • stitch markers and scissors

HOMEWORK-- please have this completed before you come to class:

With one of your chosen yarns, cast on 78 stitches, join in the round.

Round 1: purl

Round 2: knit

Round 3: purl

Round 4: knit


PARKING: The New Hampshire Parking Garage is located at 927 New Hampshire Street.  Top level parking is free.  Level 2 parking is $2.00 to park for the whole day.  Street level and basement level parking is 2-hour free parking.  Pay stations are located at each stairwell on the street level.  Sunday parking is free downtown.
