Remember those fortune tellers you made in elementary school out of a square of paper? You'll see similar shapes in Foldlines, a pullover whose surface texture was inspired by paper folding. The shape of the sweater is boxy, with drop shoulders and a loose, comfortable fit. The front and back are worked flat from the bottom up. The texture is created by a series of crossed stitches, following large charts. Once the front and back are sewn together, stitches are picked up at the armhole and worked downward to the ribbed cuff. Stitches are picked up at the neck for the ribbed collar. Foldlines was designed to be roomy, with 8" of ease. Finished chest measurements are 35.5 (42.5, 49.5, 56.5, 63.5)" with finished lengths of 23 (23.75, 25.25, 28.75, 30.25)". The sweater can be hand washed and dried flat. Brooklyn Tweed has assigned this Norah Gaughan design a skill level rating of 3 out of 5 (intermediate).
Foldlines uses Arbor, by Brooklyn Tweed. This is a DK weight yarn that is made using three worsted-spun plies of US-raised Targhee wool. They are firmly twisted together, creating a smooth yarn with excellent stitch definition--perfect for showing off the crisp lines in this sweater.
The kit includes the pattern and yarn. For this project you will also need:
