We can't get enough of yarns dyed with long color repeats. They make very dynamic woven fabrics, especially when the dimensions of the piece are scaled to the length of the repeat. In this scarf, the color gradient weft goes through one complete repeat, transitioning from one color to another. The warp is luminous 8/2 Bamboo, a rayon made from bamboo fibers. It is supple, and sett at 20 epi, it has a lot of drape. The bamboo is also used in the weft as the tabby pick, alternating with picks of the hand-dyed Gradient yarn in overshot. The kit makes one scarf with finished dimensions of 12.25" x 50". It can be hand washed and air dried.
You will need:
- 15.25" weaving width
- 4 harnesses
- 10-dent reed
- 303 heddles
- 2 boat shuttles and bobbins
We paired Gradient color Reinette with 8/2 Bamboo color 5214 Magenta for our scarf.
