Detailed Description

If you didn't thought you could get good stitch definition with an unspun yarn, guess again! Lív Ulven's Fisherman's Raglan features a feast of herringbone stitch "braids" on the front and it's made using unspun Manchelopis.

Manchelopis is an unspun wool yarn made in Spain by WoolDreamers. The yarn is so light and airy, the sweater is warm with very little weight. It is a unique and wonderful feel but the yarn does take some special handling because of its loose spin. In this project, the yarn is held double stranded, as it comes off the cake, and knit at a gauge of 4 stitches per inch in stockinette. The sweater can be hand washed and dried flat.

This sweater is knit in the round from the bottom up. The sleeves are also knit in the round from the cuff up and are joined to the body at the underarm. The shoulders are shaped using raglan decreases and the neck is shaped using German short rows. The 2x2 ribbing at the neck, hem, and cuffs flows elegantly into the herringbone stitch. The Fisherman's Raglan has a boxy fit and benefits from a little room. The designer recommends wearing it with 4-6" of ease. Finished chest measurements for this unisex sweater are 33.75 (37.5, 41.25, 43.25, 44.75, 48.75, 52.25, 56.25, 59.75)".

The kit includes the pattern purchased for you through Ravelry and the yarn. You will also need:

  • circular needles in US size 7 (OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE) in a length shorter than the sweater chest measurement
  • If you adjusted this needle size to get gauge, adjust the following needle sizes as well:
  • circular needles in US size 4 in a length shorter than the sweater chest measurement
  • double point needles in US size 7
  • double point needles in US size 4
  • tapestry needle
