Etesians is a flirty little thing, a cropped cardigan that can go on over almost anything for a light-as-air layer that packs surprising warmth. It is an easy project, too. The sleeves and upper back are knit as a single piece, from cuff to cuff. Then stitches are picked up at the lower edge and worked downward. The body is stockinette stitch with ribbed cuffs and hem. Stitches are picked up and worked in rib for the neckband. The finished chest measurements are 36 (40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64)" with lengths of 16.5 (17, 18, 18, 19, 19.5, 20, 20)". It can be hand washed and dried flat. Berroco rates this design as easy.
At a glance, you might mistake Aero for a brushed mohair. It has that same fluffy volume and warmth but its main component is alpaca, which is mixed with nylon and wool. It has been dyed in a long color repeat, so the knitted fabric has wide bands of color that blend from one color into another. Light and lofty, Aero is a bulky weight yarn and is knit in this project at 3 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch.
The kit includes the pattern and yarn. For this project you will also need:
- 29" circular needle in US size 13 (OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE)
- 29" circular needle in US size 11
- tapestry needle
