Wrap yourself in lush tropical leaves! Large-scale leaves rendered in stockinette stand out against a background of half-twisted rib. The shape of the sweater is boxy and cropped, with minimum shaping. The front and back are worked separately, following a chart for the leaf patterning. They are sewn together at the shoulders and then stitches are picked up along the armholes to work the sleeves flat. Stitches are picked up for the Deliciosa was designed for a loose fit and is shown on the model above with 7.75" of ease. The finished chest measurements are 41.25 (45.25, 49.25, 53.25, 57.25, 61.25, 65.25, 69.25, 73.25)" with lengths of 16.5 (17, 17.5, 18, 18.5, 19, 19.5, 20, 20.5)". The sweater can be hand washed and dried flat. Brooklyn tweed rates this Norah Gaughan design as skill level 4 of 5 (advanced intermediate).
Deliciosa was designed using Brooklyn Tweed's Shelter, a worsted-weight wool spun from American Targhee-Columbia fiber. It is a a woolen-spun yarn so it is lofty, for a lightweight but warm sweater. Wet blocking gives it a soft hand and slight fuzzy halo. Shelter is knit at 4.5 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch and 5.25 stitches per inch in pattern in this design.
The kit includes a pattern to be downloaded through Ravelry and the yarn. You will also need:
- 32" circular needle or single point needles in US size 7 (OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE)
