By Barbara Miller and Deb Schillo. Frances L. Goodrich began documenting the patterns used by weavers in the mountains of North Carolina in 1890. Her work was published first as the Brown Book of Weaving Drafts. Coverlet and Counterpane Drafts focuses specifically on counterpane designs and overshot variations not previously published. The authors of this collection have produced computer drafts and drawdowns of the designs to accompany reproductions of pages from Goodrich's notebooks and scrapbooks. Photographs of historical fabrics and the people who produced them are also shown.
Please note that the drafts are often very small. Be prepared to use a magnifying glass or enlarge the draft for use.
