Detailed Description

Here in Kansas, we see a lot of crop rows as we drive through the landscape. This log cabin design reminded us of an aerial view of the fields around Lawrence. The placemats are woven in two blocks of plain weave. Two colors alternate within each block in both the warp and weft. This color order creates the vertical and horizontal lines. We chose 3/2 perle cotton for this project because it is an ideal weight for placemats, at 12 epi and 12 ppi, it is fairly quick to weave, and it comes in lots of colors so you can customize your kit. The kit makes four placemats measuring 11.75" x 18.25". They can be machine washed and dried.

You will need:

3/2 perle cotton mini cones: 2 of 62 Moss, 2 of 91 Flaxon, and 1 of 01 White

  • 14" weaving width
  • 6 harnesses
  • 12-dent reed
  • 160 heddles
  • 1 boat shuttle
  • 2 bobbins

We used 3/2 Perle 62 Moss, 91 Flaxon, and 1 White in our project.
