Henry's Attic Cotton Chenille 500 is a heavy chenille, typically sett at 6-8 ends per inch in plain weave. You could use it with a smaller, evenspun cotton to play up the difference in texture, or simply go all-out on a magnificent heavy chenille blanket. It is all-cotton, including the core, so it can be dyed with a fiber reactive dye like Procion.
As with all chenilles, it can be a tricky customer but well worth the effort. Chenille has little elasticity, so be sure that you beam your warp with very even tension to prevent broken warp threads. Allow plenty of length with each weft pick and consider beating on an open shed to prevent draw-in, which contributes to broken selvedge threads. And be sure to weave your fabric tightly. A firm fabric with few or no floats of even two threads will look better, last longer, and not "worm".
How this yarn is sold: The cones vary in weight, but are typically between 2 and 3 pounds. The price above is the price for a cone weighing 2.25 pounds. Please enter the number of cones you would like as the quantity, rather than the weight. If you have a specific requirement for minimum or maximum amount, please tell us in the box headed "Shipping Instructions" on the checkout page. The price of your cone will be adjusted according to its weight, so the final total you see on your checkout page will most likely be different from the actual total. If you need us to contact you with the total before shipping, please tell us in the "Shipping Instructions" box on the checkout page.
