NOTE: The weaving class listed below is designed for those who have woven tapestry techniques before or have taken our Introduction to Tapestry Weaving class.

Color Gradient & Blending Techniques for Tapestry Weaving

May 11-12 (Sat.-Sun.) 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. 2 day

Creating color gradients and blending colors create depth and other painterly effects in a tapestry.  In this class, you will work with 6-8 colors of EPiC wool yarn and learn how to create gradient shifts and apply various blending techniques on your tapestry.  Bring your own pre-threaded loom or sign up to rent one of ours.  By Bea Bonanno.

CLASS SUPPLY LIST/THREADING INSTRUCTIONS:

  • You may bring a rigid heddle loom or harness loom (table or floor) with a 7.5-dent or 8-dent heddle or reed.  It must be fully assembled and in good working condition.
  • 8/4 carpet warp or similar gauge yarn for warp
  • 6-8 skeins of EPiC wool yarn, choose colors that will work for a gradient
  • Tapestry Beater
  • Tapestry bobbins

Warping Instructions: Using the 8/4 carpet warp, measure a 1.5-2 yard warp of 64 ends.  On a rigid heddle loom, sley 1 thread per slot and hole.  On a harness loom, sley 1 thread per dent.  Tie onto the back beam and wind warp with heavy paper or corregated cardboard.  Tie and tension at the front.

PARKING: The New Hampshire Parking Garage is located at 927 New Hampshire Street.  Top level parking is free.  Level 2 parking is $1.00 to park for the whole day.  Street level and basement level parking is 2-hour free parking.  Pay stations are located at each stairwell on the street level.  Sunday parking is free downtown.
