The Kiku 20/2 Silk makes a gleaming background fabric while the fuzzier Zephyr builds the dynamic pattern. This is a miniature overshot pattern, with only 44 ends per repeat, but it doesn't look dainty because of the bold colors chosen for this scarf. The warp is Kiku 20/2 Silk, sett at 24 epi. Two shuttles are required for the weft. One carries the tabby weft of silk while the other holds the pattern weft of Zephyr. By alternating these two shuttles, you simultaneously create the pattern of Zephyr floats on a stable plain weave background fabric of silk. The Kiku Silk is a 100% Bombyx silk. The Zephyr is a 50% wool/50% silk blend for warmth and a touch of luxury. Together, they make a knockout combination. The scarf can be hand washed, tumbled briefly in the dryer, then dried flat.
We have our sample in Kiku #9512 Arbutus and Zephyr Ebony for our scarf.
