Crackle is a variation of twill that creates a pattern reminiscent of crackled glaze on ceramics. It uses a supplementary weft alternating with a tabby pick to create zig-zagging patterns with areas of highlight and shadow. For our towels, we're using 16/2 cotton for the warp and tabby weft, with the warp sett at 30 epi. For the pattern weft, we're using 16/2 Linen, a 100% wetspun linen from Bockens that comes in a wide range of dyed colors. Together they make a fabric that is absorbent and strong. We provide three different treadling combinations so you can try three different crackle designs that use the same threading and tie-up. The hemmed towels are each approximately 19.5 x 23" and can be machine washed and dried.
