Like a delicious knitted torte, Chichima has multiple layers. It is knit in a semi-circle, beginning from the center. Four different lace patterns, worked from your choice of written or charted directions, are knit as you work toward the edge. Contrast color bands separate the lace patterns. The shawl measures approximately 56" wide by 25" long. It can be hand washed and dried flat. Berroco rates this Alison Green design as requiring intermediate skill level.
Berroco's Quechua makes great lace. It has a smooth, sleek surface that blocks into distinct lace patterning. It is a sport weight yarn but the wool, alpaca, and yak fibers make it warm and cozy.
The kit includes the pattern and the yarn. For this project you will also need:
- 29" circular needle in size US 6 OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
- spare needle 2-3 sizes larger for loose bind-off
- tapestry needle
Chichima is shown in Quechua color 1230 Stockholm as the main color and 1363 Royal as the accent. If you would like your kit to be in these colors, simply order the kit above.
