Challenge Yourself! The Salty Days Sweater

Ready to take on a more challenging sweater project and expand your knitting knowledge at the same time? With textures inspired by the salt fields of Portugal, this gorgeous pullover sweater will teach you a LOT of new techniques while creating a snuggly sweater you'll want to wrap up in all winter. The unique construction method is worked seamlessly and is available in a wide range of sizes. You'll learn to work cables, simple lace and texture stitches from charts, and more! We want you to feel like no sweater pattern is too difficult to knit in this semester long class. This is not a beginner knitting class, you should be able to confidently cast on, knit and purl before enrolling. Previous completion of a basic sweater is recommended but not required. Please purchase your class supplies before the first day of class. You can order materials online and request that we leave them at the store for a pick up. Be sure to include a note that you will pick up on the first day of class and we will remove the shipping fee and apply the class discount.

Class supply list:

Homework swatch: With size US 8 (5mm) needles, cast on 29 stitches.

Row 1 (RS): K3, *p2, k1; repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2.

Row. 2 (WS): P3, *k2, p1; repeat from * to last 2 sts, p2.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until swatch measures 4-5" from beginning. Measure gauge and write it down. Then wet block your swatch and re-measure when dry. Also make note of this blocked gauge. Compare unblocked and blocked gauges with the gauges given in the pattern. Adjust needle size as needed to obtain gauge. You may have to repeat this process if you change needle sizes.
• Download and print Salty Days ($10) pattern from Ravelry.
• Follow pattern instructions to determine yardage based on the size you plan to knit.
• Recommended yarns are DK or light worsted weight (CYCA #3) like Berroco Ultra Wool DK
• 925-1772 yards
• 16" and 24" and 32" circular US 2.5 (3.0 mm) and US 8 (5.0 mm) and double point US 2.5 (3.0 mm) and US 8 (5.0 mm) needles or whatever size gives you correct gauge.
• Cable needle
• Removeable locking stitch markers
• Waste yarn
Scissors, tape measure, blunt tapestry needle
• Row counter (optional)
• Sticky notes or magnet board (optional)

PARKING: The parking garage is located at 927 New Hampshire Street. Top level parking is free. Level 2 parking is $2.00 to park 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Street level and basement level parking is limited to 2 hours. Pay stations are located at each stairwell on the street level. Sunday parking is free downtown.
