Bybee has crisp lines and an appealing simplicity that makes it easy to pair with almost any outfit. The body of the scarf is worked using a 14-row repeat that creates the textured blocks. The ribbing at the ends is a slip stitch rib. The stitch patterns are easy--just knits, purls, and slipped stitches. The finished measurements are 8" x 62.75". Bybee can be hand washed and dried flat. Brooklyn Tweed has assigned this Gudrun Johnston design a skill level rating of 2 out of 5 (adventurous beginner).
Bybee uses Brooklyn Tweed's fingering weight wool called Loft. Loft is a woolen-spun wool that has a soft, fuzzy texture after wet blocking and makes a warm fabric that is lightweight for its volume. It is knit in this project at 6.5 stitches per inch after blocking.
The kit includes the pattern and yarn. For this project you will also need:
- 24" circular needle in US size 4 (OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE)
- T-pins for blocking
- blocking wires (optional)
- tapestry needle
Bybee is shown in Loft main color 131 Cast Iron with accent 137 Flannel. If you would like your scarf to be in these colors, simply order the kit above. If you would like to pick your own colors, see our Loft page to view the options. Then return to this page, order the kit, and tell us your color choices in the box above.
