Looking for a fitted cap that is knit flat and then seamed? The Buckler Hat fits the bill! It begins with a ribbed edge and then the body of the hat is knit using a 16-row pattern repeat. It is mostly knits and purls but includes the technique of knitting into the stitch below. The finished measurements are 19.5 (20.5)" around. The hat can be hand washed and dried flat. Rowan gives this Martin Storey design 2 out of 4 for level of difficulty (using straightforward knitting and various shaping techniques.)
Moordale is one of Rowan's yarns made entirely of British-raised fiber. It combines 70% wool and 30% alpaca for a yarn that is lightweight and warm. It shows off textured stitches, like the knit/purl patterning in this hat, beautifully. Moordale is a sport weight yarn that is knit at 4 stitches per inch in the textured stitch for this hat.
The kit contains Rowan's book Moordale and yarn. You will also need:
- single point needles in US size 6 (OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE)If you adjusted the needle size to get gauge, adjust the needle sizes below accordingly
