Detailed Description

The weaving class listed below is designed for those who have threaded a rigid heddle loom, can follow a draft, and weave independently.

Brook's Bouquet Scarf on the Rigid Heddle Loom

Oct. 14-15 (Tue.-Wed.) 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. 2 days

You will create a beautiful lace scarf using Brook's Bouquet. Hand-manipulated weave techniques allow you to create accents, unique borders, or in this case, lace effects! You will learn how to wrap weft yarn to form bouquets of warp threads between picks of plain weave. You will need to bring a pre-warped rigid heddle loom that is at least 8" wide with a 12.5- or 12-dent heddle. Be sure to tell us in the box above what width of loom you are bringing and if you are bringing a stand or need table space. Materials not included. You can choose between Ad Astra, a 4/2 organic cotton or Cody, a 100% wool yarn sourced, spun, and dyed in Wyoming. By Olivia Mills.

Purchase your project yarn online and have your loom dressed and ready to go before class begins.

    Class supply list:

  • One cone of Ad Astra organic cotton or 3 skeins of Mountain Meadows Cody
  • Your rigid heddle loom needs to be fully assembled and in good working condition and at least 8" wide with a 12.5- or 12-dent heddle.
  • One flat or stick shuttle that is at least 10" or shorter.

  • Threading instructions to be completed before class starts:

Measure a 99" (2.75 yards) warp and thread 100 ends into your heddle 1 slot, 1 hole. Tie-on to the back beam and wind the warp using heavy paper or warping sticks. Tie-on and tension at the front beam.
