Breakwater is a wardrobe extender. Wear it by itself on a sunny day or layer it under a cardigan or jacket in cooler weather. It is knit in the round, starting at the bottom edge of ribbing and working upward in stockinette. Beginning at the armholes, the stitches are worked separately, with stitches cast on to shape the cap sleeves. The lace panels at the front and back are worked following a large, clear chart. Stitches are picked up and worked for the neck edging and sleeve bands. Breakwater was designed to be worn with 2-4" of ease. Finished chest measurements are 36 (40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60)" and finished lengths are 21.5 (22, 22.5, 22.5, 23.5, 24, 24.5)". Berroco has given this Amy Christoffers design a difficulty rating of intermediate.
Breakwater uses Berroco's thick-and-thin spring and summer yarn called Quinoa. It is 91% cotton and 9% nylon, with irregular slubs that create a casual, pebbly texture. It is a DK weight yarn and is knit at 5.5 stitches per inch in stockinette in this project. Quinoa can be machine washed on gentle and dried flat.
