Keep your shoulders warm in a sweater that looks like a pullover at a first glance, but it's not--it's a caplet. Barachois has a generous lower-edge circumference and stops at the elbow so you can move your arms! It has the style of a sweater, with a deep turtleneck, cables that mark the shoulders, and vents at the sides. A narrow rib combination runs down the center front and back. The 8-row cable repeat can be worked either from written or charted instructions. Barachois is worked from the bottom up. The lower 2.5" of the front and back are worked as separate pieces that are then joined and worked in the round upwards. The lower edge measurements are 52 (56, 60, 64, 68)" with lengths of 16.5 (16.75, 17.5, 17.75, 18.5)", not including the turtleneck. It is knit using Berroco's Ultra Alpaca Chunky, a blend of 50% wool and 50% alpaca. It is a bulky weight and is knit here at 3.5" per inch in reverse stockinette. The capelet can be hand washed and dried flat. Berroco rates this design for intermediate skill level.
