Haskell is your chance to showcase your textured knitting skills and maybe learn some new techniques! The prominent beaded cables are sett off against a background of broken rib. The hem, cuffs, and yoke are garter stitch. All these textures create beautiful light-and-shadow patterning and give the sweater a deep, cozy feel. The back, fronts, and sleeves are knit flat and then joined. Short rows shape the shoulders and collar. The broken rib and cable stitches are worked following large charts. Haskell is designed to be loose and comfortable, with 8-10" of ease. Finished chest measurements are 37.5 (42, 46.5, 51.5, 56, 60.5)" with lengths of 26 (26.5, 27, 27.75, 28.25, 28.75)". It can be hand washed and dried flat. Brooklyn Tweed has assigned this Gudrun Johnston design a skill level rating of 3 out of 5 (intermediate).
Haskell uses Quarry, made by Brooklyn Tweed. This is a chunky weight yarn that is softly spun to mimic the look of unspun yarn but with more strength. It knits into a lofty and light but very warm and fuzzy fabric. In this sweater, it is knit at 3.5 stitches per inch in the broken rib pattern.
