The pinwheel is a color-and-weave design that is usually done on four or more harnesses. If you have a rigid heddle loom, a pick-up stick, and a little time, you can do pinwheel, too. We've used 3/2 Perle Cotton in contrasting colors and sett it at 12 or 12.5 ends per inch. Stripes of color in both the warp and the weft, worked using a pick-up technique, create the look of spinning pinwheels. This kit makes two hemmed towels, each approximately 12" x 22". They can be machine washed and dried.
You will need:
- 14" wide rigid heddle loom
- 12- or 12.5-dent rigid heddle
- 2 flat shuttles
- 16" or longer pick-up stick
Our towels are shown in 3/2 Perle Cotton in 62 Moss and 91 Flaxon. If you would like these colors, simply order the kit above. If you would like to choose your own colors, please see our 3/2 Perle Cotton page to view the options. Then return to this page, order the kit, and tell us your two color selections in the box above.
