The 4/2 silk is heavy enough to make a nice jacket or warm scarf. This is a reeled silk, giving it high luster, strength, and resilience. It is Bombyx silk from the cocoons of the silk moth Bombyx mori. The natural color is a cream and it takes dye well using a protein dye like Washfast.

This yarn comes in a reeled hank, which must be wound into a ball before use. We are happy to wind the yarn for you at no charge, but this does make the yarn non-returnable. If you would like your skeins wound, please request it in the "Shipping Instructions" box during the checkout process. (If you will be dyeing this yarn, it is best to keep it in its reeled hank.)
