Linen and Hemp Weaving Yarn Linen (flax) and hemp are bast fibers, meaning that they are the fibers found within the stem of the plant. Yarn made from these fibers are very strong but have limited elasticity, which can make for a challenging warp. Fabrics woven from them are strong, abrasion resistant, and absorbent. They are generally machine washable but do require ironing to press out the wrinkles and creases. |
