Ad Astra is Latin for "to the stars" and seemed to be an apt name the first yarn that we ever developed! We picked a beautiful organic 4/2 cotton base and had it dyed in 44 of our favorite colors, plus a natural that has been scoured to give the same feel as the dyed yarns. Ad Astra has a lot of body and doesn't tangle readily. It is ring spun for strength and smoothness and even has a slight sheen, even though it is unmercerized. This weight is ideal for placemats, baby blankets, and even hefty hand towels.

We tested the washfastness of the colors by using Cardinal and Natural together. We machine washed the piece in cold water and moved it to the dryer as soon as the wash cycle was over. No bleeding!

Ad Astra is produced entirely in the US. The organic cotton fiber is grown in Texas. The spinning and dyeing is done in North Carolina.
