An elegant, formal table runner makes a special occasion even better. This overshot pattern creates a striking line of chariot wheels and then echoes the same curves on either side of the wheels. It is woven using two colors of 8/2 cottolin as the warp, sett at 16 epi. These same two yarns are the tabby wefts and the pattern is Ad Astra 4/2 unmercerized cotton. The structure is 8-harness overshot and it has a unique look because there is no ground fabric (areas where only the warp and tabby intersect). Here, the pattern is shown against halftone only, simplifying the look and reducing the contrast between the motifs and their background. The kit makes a runner measuring approximately 16.5" x 65". It can be machine washed on gentle and dried flat.

You will need:

• 8 oz tube each of two colors of 8/2 cottolin and one 8-oz cone of Ad Astra cotton
• 19.5" weaving width
• 8 harnesses
• 8-dent reed
• 311 heddles
• 2 boat shuttle and 3 bobbins

Our runner was woven using 8/2 Cottolin in colors 100 Natural and 8264 Wine for the warp and tabby with Ad Astra color 39 Seaglass as the pattern weft.
